Course description

This module provides learning opportunity for trainees to understand and explain change management in airport operations considering future technological challenges and needs. The trainees will be able to learn and discuss change management aspects in airport operations.

Program

The contents of the whole training will be:

  1. Concept of change
  2. Reason and need for change
  3. Automation and new technologies
  4. Change planning
  5. Human factors in change management
  6. Resistance and resilience to change
  7. Constantly changing and unchanging in Airport operations
  8. The performance for change management
  9. Adaptive/innovative solutions for changing environmental

Concept of change: Trainees will learn about the concept of change and learn how the concept of change is affected by the changing environment and technology in airport operations.

Change planning: Trainees will learn about change planning processes for airport operations.

Human factors in change management: Trainees will be able to analyse the importance of human factors in change management.

Constantly changing and unchanging in Airport operations: Trainees will be able to evaluate the constantly changing and unchanging Airport operations.

The performance for change management: Trainees will be able to evaluate performance for change management.

Exercises

During the training the participants will fill out the following exercises:

Multiple choice questions focused on knowledge development, aiming to assess the trainees ’ understanding of the concepts, models and strategies explored during the training course

Case study: Case study exercises commonly present trainees with real problems faced by professionals in the real world. Usually, students are provided with a set of documents/information outlining a specific problem or situation, requiring the trainee to formulate a plan of action to solve/address the issue.

Glossary exercise: It aims to assess the trainees’ comprehension of the key concepts of each lesson. Considering that, each student MUST insert AND define 2/3 concepts per lesson, which they learned and identified as crucial.

Concept maps are similar to a web that gives a visual representation of a students’ comprehension of a specific topic and the relations that they can make between different concepts.

One-Question Quiz: A one-question quiz is a quiz with a single question with a specific goal that students can answer in one or two minutes.

One-minute essay: The one-minute essay is a strategy that allows the teacher to assess the students’ understanding of a specific topic, which consists of a simple question for students to answer in jus t one minute.
